Excess weight & fat gains around the hip and
belly, loss of firmness around the underarms, signs of sagging breasts, and a
figure that is going “out of shape” is a common worry among new mothers.
How do you regain your pre-pregnancy figure, after
having your body being stretched for months?
Body Re-shaping within the first 6 months delivers the
most promising results. However, we do encourage that you only start wearing
the full suite of shaping lingerie from the 3rd or 4th weeks
onwards. This is to ensure that your internal body organs and functions have
returned to normal, before applying external pressure, especially so for birth
by caesarean section.
1st
week: Body recovery
During pregnancy,
hormonal changes cause connective tissue to soften. The muscle and ligaments
will be further stretch and strained during labour, rendering your body in a
delicate condition in the first week after delivery. Thus, we encourage you to
rest well and do some basic post-natal pelvic exercises to speed up your body’s
recovery.
2nd
Week onwards: Tummy & Hips
Most of your body
functions would have returned to normal. Your energy level restored.
Your uterus may
have contracted to half the size it was when you went into labour, but the stretched
abdominal wall will take longer to recover. As the uterus slowly returns to its
normal size, the belly will feel a bit soft.
During this time,
the hormone Relaxin is still in your system. It will stay in your system for up
to 8 weeks. Relaxin allows pelvic joints and ligaments to soften and expand so
baby can pass through the birth canal during recovery. While your pelvic joints
and ligaments are still soft, it is crucial that you start providing constant,
but gentle pressure to your hips to guide the pelvis back to their
pre-pregnancy position. A piece of Girdle, with good elasticity is a good
option to re-shape your hip.
The Girdle,
coupled with a Waist Nipper, will hold your flabby tummy skin and fat so it
doesn’t hang lose, relieving the skin tissue from further downward stress. It
provides support the area that has been “injured” during pregnancy and labour,
allowing the underlying tissue to heal.
You will
experience tender breasts as your breasts grow and begin to fill with milk.
Wear a good Nursing Bra that will hold & support your breasts to minimize
sag due to the weight.
Remember though
that these garments should not be too tight and should be comfortable enough
for long period periods of wearing. Look for shaping lingerie made from LYCRA
materials. LYCRA is preferred due to its elasticity, which creates more
comfortable shaping garments.
3rd
Week onwards: Regain your pre-pregnancy figure!
Your internal organs would have been realigned and the
post-pregnancy vaginal discharge would have reduced. This is the perfect time
to do a full body re-shape.
This is the right time to wear a full shaping suit. The
support & constant pressure of the full set of shaping lingerie will
increase the intensity of the shaping process. With a complete, full suite of
shaping lingerie, you are able to properly shift and hold your body fat, back
to the correct position to achieve your ideal figure.
